Extractor Fan Installation - Paradigm Electrical Solutions, Aylesbury

When you have damp in your property, mould can quickly develop without removing the moist air from the environment. The best way to do this is to remove the air using extraction fans quickly before moisture can develop on surfaces around the area.

At Paradigm Electrical Solutions, we regularly carry out EXTRACTOR FAN INSTALLATION in Aylesbury and surrounding areas and can help you with any fan replacements, installations, or moisture issues.

Replacement Extractor Fan Installation

The most straightforward installation of an extractor fan is where and existing fan requires replacement. In these cases, we assume that the fan does not require a new electrical cable and that the fan has simply failed meaning a replacement will fix the problem.

New Extractor Fan Installation in Aylesbury

Installing a new extractor fan can mean a fair amount of work if there is not an existing fan in place. A new electrical supply will need to be installed to the fan and possible a connection to the light switch so that the fan operates when the bathroom light is turned on. We also must consider how the air is removed from the environment such that no damage is caused to the property from damp air.

Venting Requirements

Moist air removed from bathrooms, kitchens and elsewhere in the home should be vented outside to prevent mould developing in other areas of the home. There are, generally speaking, three ways to achieve this:

Core Drilling

Most fans require a 4” or 100mm diameter hole in order to extract the air to the outside through a wall. In these cases, a hole will need to created through your wall to the outside. This is done by the use of a core drill to cut a circular opening for the fan to extract through.

Core drilling can be fraught with difficulties, very time consuming and labour intensive and as such this is often reflected in the costs.

Soffit Installation

The other option for extracting the moist air is by the use of solid and flexible tubes from the ceiling of the bathroom through the loft to the outside of the property. This can be done through the soffits (where the eaves of the roof are) or by core drilling to the outside of the property using a suitable wall in the loft area.

Roof Tile Venting

Air can be taken straight up into the loft and through a roof tile in some cases. A pipe is attached to the rear of the extractor fan, suitable supports attached to the pipe and the moist air extracted directly up and out through the roof.

Why can’t the fan be vented into the loft?

Warm moist air cannot be removed from bathrooms and kitchen into the loft without then being removed outside. To do so would cause mould, health issues and long-term damage to your home.

At Paradigm Electrical Solutions, we can find solutions to almost any EXTRACTOR FAN INSTALLATION issues and also carry out a wide range of electrical services that you may require. Get in touch to learn more.
